My First ELF Performance, Dramatic Poetry Reading

After we performed “the bear”, it was our second performance in AECS 2011. Talking about the concept of this dramatic poetry reading, we tried to show the audiences how technology has changed people's life.
First, we acted like children, playing traditional games, singing traditional song. And it slowly changed. We still acted like children but with modern stuff.
The girls were busy with their cellphone and the boys were busy with any kind of modern games. Thus, we began to read the poetry entitled Notasi Kecil Anak-anakku by Saeful Badar.
It was about the children’s life that changed from traditional into modern, the children that forget what they should defend. This performance was success and got a lot of attention.

Telah punah anak-anakku
Di jaring kabel telepon
Dibonsaikan lagu-lagu yang mendayu
Mereka sibuk mengukir bianglala
Sibuk menjala fatamorgana
Di kepala mereka bertenggeran artis-artis
Dan penyanyi idola
Setelah lembar demi lembar ayat-ayat suci
Berpindah tempat ke gudang-gudang
Yang apak penuh debu
Di kuping dan rongga mata mereka
Hanya debur radio dan televisi
Sedang kegelapan dan sunyi malam
Telah disulap jadi kebisingan panjang
Setelah musik-musik instan, film-film kacangan
Dan diskotik-diskotik bebas menjelajah 24 jam waktu
Dari hari-hari yang tersisa
Ke pojok-pojok jalanan
Telah terpuruk nilai-nilai kehidupan
Dan anak-anakku kian punah
Dimangsa ganas teknologi
“Zarina! Zarina!
Jangan habiskan sisa ecstasy di saku bajumu
Sebab takkan pernah kenyang kita
Mencicip Amerika dan Eropa setiap waktu!”
